La dinastia Ghezzi ha reso onore alla propria cittadinanza, grazie alle loro opere famose in tutto il mondo.
Comunanza è il luogo di nascita di Sebastiano Ghezzi, un artista poliedrico del XVII secolo. Sebastiano Ghezzi (1580-1647), figura di spicco della dinastia, fu un talentuoso pittore, decoratore, architetto, ingegnere militare e anche scienziato e alchimista. Le sue opere sono disseminate in tutto il territorio, e tra i suoi capolavori si trovano gli affreschi nella Chiesa della Beata Vergine del Rosario e nella chiesa di S. Francesco a Comunanza.
Il patrimonio artistico della dinastia dei Ghezzi prosegue con Giuseppe Ghezzi (1636-1721), figlio di Sebastiano. Giuseppe, trasferitosi a Roma, divenne un rinomato pittore barocco, restauratore e letterato, con riconoscimenti dalla regina Cristina di Svezia e dal papa Gregorio XI. Opere come “S. Giovanni Battista, S. Giuliana Falconeri e anime purganti” e “Vergine di Loreto, Santi e Anime purganti” testimoniano la sua maestria.
Il terzo capitolo della dinastia si apre con Pier Leone Ghezzi (1674-1755), figlio di Giuseppe. Artista e intellettuale, Pier Leone è noto come il più grande caricaturista del Settecento. Una delle sue opere è il dipinto “Vergine di Loreto, Santi e Anime purganti” (realizzato insieme al padre), che è un esempio della sua straordinaria sensibilità artistica.
Il Museo di Arte Sacra a Comunanza conserva con orgoglio opere attribuite ai Ghezzi, come la copia della “Adorazione dei Magi” e “S. Liborio”, un dipinto che incanta per la sua luce e la maestria iconografica tipica della dinastia.
Un sogno del Comune è riportare in paese la celebre “Sacra Famiglia” di Giuseppe Ghezzi, custodita a Sant’Angelo Magno a Ascoli Piceno. Comunanza onora l’eredità di Giuseppe Ghezzi, un genio del Barocco italiano che ha portato lustro a questa incantevole cittadina.

Comunanza is the birthplace of Sebastiano Ghezzi, a versatile artist of the seventeenth century. Sebastiano Ghezzi (1580-1647), a prominent figure of the dynasty, was a talented painter, decorator, architect, military engineer, and also a scientist and alchemist. His works are scattered throughout the territory, and among his masterpieces are the frescoes in the Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary and in the church of S. Francesco in Comunanza.
The artistic heritage of the Ghezzi dynasty continues with Giuseppe Ghezzi (1636-1721), son of Sebastiano. Giuseppe, who moved to Rome, became a renowned Baroque painter, restorer, and literary figure, with recognition from Queen Christina of Sweden and Pope Gregory XI. Works such as “St. John the Baptist, St. Juliana Falconieri, and souls in Purgatory” and “Virgin of Loreto, Saints, and Souls in Purgatory” testify to his mastery.
The third chapter of the dynasty opens with Pier Leone Ghezzi (1674-1755), son of Giuseppe. An artist and intellectual, Pier Leone is known as the greatest caricaturist of the eighteenth century. One of his works is the painting “Virgin of Loreto, Saints, and Souls in Purgatory” (created together with his father), which is an example of his extraordinary artistic sensitivity.
The Museum of Sacred Art in Comunanza proudly preserves works attributed to the Ghezzi, such as the copy of the “Adoration of the Magi” and “St. Liborius,” a painting that enchants with its light and the iconographic mastery typical of the dynasty.
A dream of the Municipality is to bring back to the village the famous “Holy Family” by Giuseppe Ghezzi, housed in Sant’Angelo Magno in Ascoli Piceno. Comunanza honors the legacy of Giuseppe Ghezzi, a genius of Italian Baroque who brought glory to this charming town.
